Steelers free agency: Packers WR Romeo Doubs set to his free-agent market
· Yahoo Sports
One position all the pundits are saying the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to spend some money on in free agency is wide receiver. The previous staff grossly mishandled the position last season to the detriment of the entire offense. With Mike McCarthy in charge now, we hope the front office can right the wrongs of last offseason.
A potential target for the Steelers in free agency is Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs. Doubs and the Packers had been working hard to try and come to terms on a contract extension before the start of free agency but according to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, talks have broken down and Doubs will now be one of the top targets in free agency.

Doubs is an interesting case for free agency because his talent has never fully materialized on the field. His career best in receptions is only 59 and last season he had a career-high receiving yards with just 724. Doubs career best in touchdowns catches is right back in 2023.
Last season the Steelers traded with the Seattle Seahawks to bring in DK Metcalf and while he's a borderline No. 1, he is currently making $32.5 million per year. The market for wide receivers is through the roof so despite his lack of overall production, Doubs could still see himself getting something similar to what Tee Higgins got with the Cincinnati Bengals at just over $28 million per season. Is this too much for the Steelers to spend on Doubs?
