ESPN: Cowboys offered 'veteran to sweeten deal' in Crosby trade pursuit
· Yahoo Sports
It appears the vanishing report that the Dallas Cowboys may have offered DT Osa Odighizuwa in a trade to the Las Vegas Raiders could have substantial legs after all.
The Cowboys were very serious in their attempts to acquire two-time Second-Team All-Pro, and five-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby. Crosby, who ended up being traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks, was seen as the top available talent at a position of great need for Dallas. But during the final day countdown to the trade happening, a report of the Cowboys best and final offer included a named veteran, but that tweet was deleted a few hours later.

Cowboys Wire identified a trade sweetener of including DT Osa Odighizuwa to try and acquire Crosby way back in December, and a report by 105.3 The Fan, the official radio partner of the Cowboys, sourced a report that Dallas did just that.
Only the tweet was taken down for reasons unknown. Perhaps the source identified the wrong player, but perhaps the team did not want the smoke from having a player named in trade talks who might still remain with the organization in the future.
ESPN's Adam Schefter later tweeted the Cowboys' final offer was that of a first rounder in 2026, No. 12 overall, and a 2027 second rounder. He made no mention of a veteran inclusion, but on Sunday, ESPN published an article that clearly states an unnamed veteran Cowboy was offered to the Raiders.
Dallas kept a hard line throughout. The franchise wasn't willing to part with two first-round picks, hoping its 12th pick in April's draft, plus a future second-rounder, would be enough to entice Las Vegas. Dallas was also willing to package a veteran player to sweeten the deal, but Vegas wasn't interested in that. The Raiders prioritized picks.
This doesn't name Odighizuwa, but it does lend a lot of credence to the deleted tweet. The veteran could've been a myriad of players, but as they say, where there's smoke, there's fire.
It will be very interesting to see if there are any other trade scenarios for the Cowboys as free agency is set to get underway unofficially on Monday, and officially on Wednesday.
