Boston Red Sox 21-year-old star Roman Anthony isn't afraid of the big moment. Anthony reminded us all of that on Friday night as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI in his World Baseball Classic debut, announcing himself in epic fashion to a world of baseball fans outside of Boston who may not be familiar with his game.

Meanwhile, Team USA achieved a 15-5 victory over Brazil in the debut pool play contest at Daikin Park in Houston. The Americans' potent lineup overwhelmed Brazil's pitching staff, which issued 17 walks in the contest, contributing to the lopsided result.

Starting in left field and hitting seventh in the order, Anthony walked twice and scored two runs, in addition to his production mentioned above. Anthony's two hits arrived in crucial spots, including an RBI single in the eighth inning that scored New York Yankees MVP Aaron Judge and pushed the lead to 8-4. He followed that up with another RBI single in the ninth, extending the advantage further during a seven-run outburst that sealed the win.

Anthony's contributions came amid a barrage of offense from Team USA, which included a two-run homer from Judge early and a three-run double from Brice Turang in the fifth.

As a rising talent fresh off a promising MLB debut season with the Red Sox, Anthony's poise against international competition stood out. He showed discipline at the plate and delivered timely contact, helping Team USA assert dominance from the outset of pool play. The performance bodes well for the young star as the tournament progresses, with the Americans looking to build momentum toward another deep run in the WBC.
