Kieran Gill’s Chelsea Confidential column is back, and he’s noticed something which we also were interested by during this international break.

Cole Palmer was on corner duty for England, taking 6 in his time on the pitch for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Meanwhile Palmer is never given that job for Chelsea. He’s taken just two corners all year for the Blues.

The attacker’s delivery against Uruguay led to a goal for Ben White, while he also put in another wicked delivery that should have made it 2-0 in that game.

We’d agree that Palmer has a wicked delivery on him. You certainly see that when he takes direct free kicks.

Chelsea go their own way with set piece ideas

Chelsea have their own set piece coach, and we assume that Bernardo Cueva has been looking at all the data and concluding that there are better options for taking set pieces – or perhaps that he wants Palmer in and around the box for rebounds or to try and strike balls which get cleared.

In other news…

Jon Obi Mikel has been laying into the Chelsea ownership this week, blaming one big decision they made for the current disaster.

Chelsea topped the list of teams who had spent big on agents this season – but we’re not really sure what they got in return.
