Oklahoma wrestler Carter Schubert entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.

Schubert made the Blood Round at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships at 174 pounds. The Wrestling Room’s Pat Mineo reported Schubert would be willing to go down to 165 pounds at his next destination.
Schubert began his career at Cal Baptist in 2023-24, going 3-1 in redshirt at 165 pounds. He transferred to Oklahoma after one season, going down to 157 and went 3-3.
This past year, Schubert bumped up to 174 and went 21-8, falling one win shy of All-American status. With two years remaining, he’ll be a key cog in someone’s lineup next season.
Schubert fell to Navy’s Danny Wask 2-1 in tiebreakers in the Blood Round in Cleveland. A Marion, NY native, the possibilities could be immense for Schubert in 2026-27.

Schubert was one of three Oklahoma wrestlers to fall in the Blood Round this season. 184 pounder Brian Soldano and heavyweight Juan Mora all fell one win shy of All-American status.
The Sooners finished the tournament with 10.0 team points. Oklahoma now shifts its focus to the offseason as head coach Roger Kish welcomes a 2026 recruiting class currently ranked No. 17 nationally by FloWrestling, marking consecutive top-20 classes for the third-year coach.
