Title subheader says it all, no?

Anyway, happy Opening Day to you all. I’m already annoyed thinking about the Minnesota Twins, so it’s best to move on to something that makes me less angry, like college basketba—

—oh Christ. It’s Iowa-Nebraska tonight?

Sweet Sixteen, South and West Editions

[11] Texas Longhorns vs. [2] Purdue Boilermakers
6:10pm | CBS | Purdue -8.5 | O/U 147.5 | West Regional (in San Jose, CA)

Texas has gotten a lot of production in the NCAA Tournament out of their own pair of bigs, 6’8” G Dailyn Swain and 7’0” C Matas Vokietaitis. Those two should provide Purdue’s frontcourt its most significant test since the Big Ten championship game—one which, Boilermaker faithful kvetching aside, Purdue’s proven up to handling.

Both teams have shotmakers, CJ Cox for the Boilers and Jordan Pope for the Horns, who are listed as “Questionable” tonight. Pay attention to that.

[9] Iowa Hawkeyes vs. [4] Nebraska Cornhuskers
6:30pm | TBS | UNL -1.5 | O/U 131.5 | South Regional (in Houston, TX)

Ah, the Big Ten regional—this one’s followed by Houston-Illinois.

This game will be terrible, the discourse will be terrible, and we’re terrible people for watching it.

At this point, both sides know what the other wants to do. Iowa got its way, forcing a frigid Husker offensive effort in Iowa City en route to a 57-52 win. The Huskers got their revenge at season’s end, beating Iowa 84-75 in overtime, a tempo and scoreline more to the Huskers’ liking.

Can Bennett Stirtz regain his shooting form? Does Iowa have the horses to run with Nebraska?

These are not questions I want the answer to. I hate it all.

[4] Arkansas Razorbacks vs. [1] Arizona Wildcats
8:45pm | CBS | Arizona -8.5 | O/U 165.5 | West Regional

Similarly: ew.

[3] Illinois Fighting Illini vs. [2] Houston Cougars
9:05pm | TBS | UH -2.5 | O/U 139.5 | South Regional

And then…THIS!

First, a 9:05pm tip is perfect. It’s why Central Time should exist. Those of you on the East Coast should consider your immoral lifestyles, repent, and believe in the Gospel.

I mean, don’t move here or anything, but consider that Central Time is best.

Illinois go fast and big. Houston go slow and big.

That about sum it up?

I hit my word count. Maybe the Coney stories and/or a College Basketball Crown preview will come…tomorrow? Saturday? Next month? Who’s to say.
