Boston College was eliminated from the Hockey East Tournament on Saturday and its 4-3 loss to UConn also ended their hopes for an NCAA Tournament berth.

After leading Hockey East in goals (23) and points (47) as a sophomore, Hagens, the Bruins’ first-round pick last year, is expected to turn pro.

Hagens could sign as soon as Saturday. If he does, he could be back on the TD Garden ice as soon as Tuesday. The Bruins have a critical game in Detroit with playoff implications on Saturday night. He’s obviously unlikely to sign then fly to Michigan to debut on that quick of a turnaround.

But the Bruins are then off on Sunday and Monday, which would give Hagens a chance to practice and get acclimated before debuting against a rebuilding Maple Leafs squad.

The Bruins could decide to start him in the AHL and give him time in Providence to get used to playing against men before throwing him into a tight race to reach the playoffs.

Hagens was one of six Bruins draft picks to play at BC this season.

Dean Letourneau, Boston’s other top prospect, made a huge leap this year with 22 goals and 17 assists, but would still benefit from another year in college and is expected to return to BC.

He had two power play goals on Friday. Hagens assisted on both.
