The Philadelphia Eagles have locked in their trustworthy 6-foot-1 tight end for at least another season.

On Sunday, the Eagles re-signed Dallas Goedert to a one-year deal to return to Philadelphia.

“Sources: Tight end Dallas Goedert reached agreement today on a one-year deal to return to the Eagles for his ninth season in Philadelphia,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X/Twitter.

Unsurprisingly, Dallas’s signing came with a straightforward update on a potential A.J. Brown trade, considering the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo recently reported that the futures of Goedert and Brown are ‘interconnected’.

“Even though the Eagles now are bringing back tight end Dallas Goedert, there are no new developments regarding the status of wide receiver AJ Brown,” Schefter stated.

Fans should no longer expect a trade to happen soon, as The Athletic’s Dianna Russini’s Friday evening report indicated the Eagles aren’t trading Brown at this time. However, there’s a chance Philadelphia could revisit a potential trade involving its star wide receiver.

Although there’s still uncertainty regarding Brown’s long-term future in Philadelphia following a relatively down year and complaints about his role with the franchise, it’s safe to assume the Eagles are relieved that Goedert will be in the fold next season.

The contact-embracing TE finished his eight NFL campaign with 60 receptions for 591 yards and a career-best 11 touchdowns. When Jalen Hurts’ initial reads weren’t there last season, Goedert was his reliable check-down target/security blanket. Per Schefter’s report, that trend will continue in 2026-27.
