The Washington Commanders continue to restock their roster for 2026. On Thursday, Washington re-signed one of its own, agreeing to a new deal with offensive tackle Trent Scott.

Scott, 32, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2018 with the Los Angeles Chargers. After two years with the Chargers, Scott moved to the Carolina Panthers, spending two seasons there. In 2022, Scott played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Washington signed Scott to a two-year deal in 2023. He appeared in 10 games that season, making two starts at tackle. In 2024, Scott appeared in every game, starting one. He also started in place of the injured Sam Cosmi at right guard in the NFC Championship Game, showing his versatility. Scott often saw the field as an extra tight end in goal-line situations, where he caught his first — and only — career touchdown.

That touchdown also happened to be historic, as it was Jayden Daniels' first career NFL touchdown pass.

Scott appeared in eight games last season for Washington and started three. He has played in 96 career games, making 26 starts. The 32-year-old Scott gives the Commanders an experienced, versatile lineman who can play four positions if needed. Washington already retained former starter Andrew Wylie and extended left tackle Laremy Tunsil and guard/center Nick Allegretti this offseason.
