Grant Williams excited for former Boston Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum to return

· Yahoo Sports

During his time playing on the Boston Celtics, Grant Williams and Jayson Tatum were close, even if they often ribbed one another. Now playing for the Charlotte Hornets, Williams weighed in on the long rehab of his former Celtics teammate and his likely imminent return ahead of a tilt between Boston and Charlotte on Wednesday (March 4).

Per the Tennessee alum, "basketball misses" the St. Louis native, a fact he told also-recovering Celtics alum Kyrie Irving recently. "They're special players, they're special talents, but also just special human beings," added the Charlotte native. "So I'm thankful to have played four great years with JT."

"I'm going to be just as excited as you guys are when he makes his return, eventually, whether that's – whenever that is," said Williams. "And I think that for him, it's going to be a great road because I know he doesn't miss games."

"When I was in Boston, he was the guy that made sure, no matter how he was feeling, he played every single game," said the former Celtics forward.

"So I know for him, (he) probably has an itch and a nerve to get back. But those nerves will settle in as the year goes on. And I know everybody's excited to have him back on the floor."
