The 39-year-old actor was previously arrested in New Orleans on Feb. 17 during Mardi Gras for allegedly fighting at a bar near the French Quarter. He was charged with two counts of simple battery. LaBeouf was taken into custody on Saturday as well and a third misdemeanour simple battery charge was added.
LaBeouf’s attorney told media that the latest arrest was in connection to the Feb. 17 incident and said that when police issued a new arrest warrant on Friday, LaBeouf turned himself in to the Orleans Parish jail the next day. LaBeouf posted a $5,000 bond and has since been released from police custody.
“No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed two separate times for one misdemeanour incident,” LaBeouf’s attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, told Entertainment Weekly . “Just as he does not deserve preferential treatment, Mr. LaBeouf also does not deserve to be treated more harshly by the police and courts just because he is a public figure.”

LaBeouf was arrested by New Orleans police shortly after midnight on Feb. 17 for battery after being accused of trying to punch a manager at Royal Street Inn and Bar in Faubourg Marigny, next to the French Quarter, and hitting another patron who was helping the manager. He then allegedly punched another man in the nose before bystanders took him down and held him until police arrived. LeBeouf was taken to a hospital, discharged, arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.
At a recent hearing, LaBeouf was ordered to check into rehab with a judge mandating that he seek treatment for substance abuse, undergo drug tests and post a $100,000 bond to be released, People reported.
Days after the hearing, LaBeouf spoke to Andrew Callaghan of YouTube’s Channel 5 , saying, “I f—ed up, it’s on me,” adding his problem isn’t so much his drinking as it is a “small-man complex,” with his issues stemming more from “anger and ego” than from booze.
LaBeouf said that he became aggressive during the Feb. 17 incident after three men touched his leg.
“I’ll be honest with you: Big, gay people are scary to me,” he said. “When I’m, like, standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic, then I’m that.”
He then reiterated that he shouldn’t have raised his hands to people.
“I am wrong for touching anyone ever,” he said, “and that’s the end of my statement on this whole s—.”
