‘We were nowhere near Pirates’: Kaze makes honest assessment on derby loss

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has admitted that his team was outclassed by Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon in the Soweto Derby.

Goals from Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa were enough to give the Buccaneers all three points at the FNB Stadium.

Chiefs never looked like coming back into the match after conceding in the first five minutes of the match.

Kaze feels the early goal unsettled his players.

“I believe the opponent deserved the win, we were nowhere near them and you know the first five minutes we conceded a goal on a short-corner that maybe took a toll on how we wanted to start the game,” Kaze told SuperSport after the match.

Kaze feels Pirates were superior

“I feel like in the second half we came out with better intentions, better ideas but the opponents used the tricks in the first 15 minutes every time falling down and that took our energy down too and after that the third goal.”

Despite the Pirates defeat, Kaze is hopeful that his side can return to winning ways with 13 matches still to play.

“We were well out and one man down and don’t manage well the moments but I think it’s a big disappointment and still have 13 games to go and keep our heads up.

“It’s a very difficult pill to swallow, but we need to swallow it and go back onto the training field and work more,” Kaze added.
