Dixon Ward, Wayne Primeau and Jody Gage greeted fans, who had the opportunity to take a photo with the Calder Cup.
The trio also reflected on their days in Rochester.
“I loved my time in Rochester,” Ward said. “Winning the Calder Cup was still the most exciting time I ever had in the game, including the Stanley Cup final. We didn’t win it, so it comes second.”
Primeau reflected on the team’s championship run.
“Anytime you can win a championship, it’s a great feeling,” Primeau said. “For me, that year, I came from junior, finished the last eight games of the regular season, and then played 17 of the 19 playoff games. Great, great crowd, great attendance. Just an amazing atmosphere, and I’m so, so happy that we were able to finish it out with Game 7.”
The 1996 championship is the last Calder Cup that belongs to the Amerks. As the final weeks of the regular season wind down, this year’s team will look to bring the trophy back to Rochester for the first time is 30 years.
